Entrepreneurs who decide to set up or expand their business activities in Slovakia can receive support from state thanks to regional investment aid. The purpose of state and investment aid is, among other things, to develop less developed regions and increase competitiveness within Slovakia.
The Slovak Ministry of Economy approves regional investment aid to projects in industrial production, R&D centres and shared service centres (SSCs). Primarily supported are expenditures related to the establishment and expansion of production. The amount of the aid, which may take the form of cash grant, tax relief or a contribution to new jobs creation, depends to a large extent on the industry, as well as location in which the investor establishes or expands its business activities.
